The Foundation Trust manages the five NHS adult hospitals in Sheffield - the Northern General, Royal Hallamshire, Jessop Wing, Weston Park and Charles Clifford hospitals. During this year the Trust performed almost 175,000 inpatient episodes and day cases and around 840,000 outpatient appointments, totalling over a million patient episodes. The Trust has now implemented blanket risk assessment, so that every patient admitted to hospital is assessed for VTE risk and offered prophylactic treatment where necessary, with audit and monitoring against NICE guidance in place. The Trust was designated a VTE Exemplar Centre in July 2008. For further information, please contact Dr Rhona MacLean, Consultant Haematologist. |
